Teens Arrested in Boat Burglary, Arson Case

One of the three teens arrested told police he wanted to steal anything he could find.

Teenagers were accused of committing burglary and arson on wednesday in New Port Richey.

A 16-year-old entered the cabin of a sailboat at 4939 Floramar Terrace in New Port Richey on Wednesday and took a box of signal flares and an air horn from a storage compartment without permission, according to an arrest report from the New Port Richey Police Department.

A 13-year-old boy also tried to enter the cabin of a motor yacht at the location, but the door was locked and he couldn’t get in. He told a police officer later that his intent was to steal anything he could find.

Witnesses were present and saw the two boys and a 16-year-old girl leave the area. They also saw a dock on fire at Windsong Charters at 4927 U.S. 19 in New Port Richey. The teens later denied using the flares.

All three teens were arrested Wednesday by New Port Richey police. The 16-year-old boy and 13-year-old boy were each charged with burglary and arson. The 16-year-old boy was also charged with resisting arrest without violence.

The 16-year-old girl was only charged with arson.

Patch is not releasing the names of the suspects due to their ages.
