City Moves Toward Allowing Hanging, Sandwich Board Signs
New Port Richey is moving toward giving businesses new ways to advertise their services.
Imagine downtown New Port Richey businesses having the ability to advertise their services with hanging signs and awnings.
New Port Richey city council leaders certainly can.
The City Council approved the first draft of an ordinance change allowing folks to have hanging signs, sidewalk sandwich boardsigns, awnings with advertisements, signs on benches and larger monument signs. The change only applies to New Port Richey’s downtown overlay district.
Councilman Jeff Starkey said that businesses have been requesting a change to the city’s sign code for a while.
“I think it’s long overdue and will entice businesses to move to the downtown area,” he said.
This was the first of two votes needed to pass the code change. The next comes next month.
