murderer Marshall Lee Gore, 50, has received a stay of execution of
sorts courtesy of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
What’s the reason for the delay in justice?
As it turns out, the October date better accommodates Bondi’s reelection campaign. A fundraising kickoff party in South Tampa conflicted with the original Sept. 10 execution date, so a change was requested. Gov. Rick Scott granted the change, the Times reports.
Bondi, who has championed the need for the state to serve up justice more swiftly, has taken responsibility for the delay it seems.
"The planned execution of Marshall Lee Gore had already been stayed twice by the courts, and we absolutely should not have requested that the date of the execution be moved,” the Times quoted her as saying.
