Kathryn Starkey Gets Hildebrand Endorsement for County Commission

A former school board member gets the recommendation of a longtime County Commissioner

Longtime Pasco County Commissioner Ann Hildebrand is retiring this year from her elected position and is endorsing Kathryn Starkey for her seat, according to a press release from the Starkey campaign. The seat in question represents district three on the county commission.

Starkey is a former Pasco School Board member who also has leadership of several organizations under her belt.

District three encompasses southwest Pasco County, from the Gulf Harbors area south to the southern border of Holiday. It also encompasses the area from the southern side of of S.R. 54 to the southern border of Pasco and eastward to the junction of 54 and County Road 581. The candidates who will be duking it out in the general election for Hildebrand’s seat as of today are:

Republican Candidate Kathryn Starkey, has announced that retiring Pasco County Commissioner Ann Hildebrand has endorsed Kathryn in her bid for the District 3 seat.

“I have decided to retire after 28 years of public service in Pasco County. It has been my honor to represent Pasco on the County Commission,” said Commissioner Ann Hildebrand. “I have always been impressed with Kathryn’s dedication to public service and her commitment to Pasco County is second to none.” Commissioner Hillenbrand also stated, “Kathryn is a long time resident of this county and understands what is needed for business owners to expand and create jobs.”

“I am honored and humbled by the support and confidence Commissioner Hildebrand has in me,” said Starkey. “I will continue the legacy she has built of being a true public servant and will be an advocate for the residents of District Three.”

Kathryn is married to Jay B (Trey) Starkey, and they have four children. She is a businesswoman that has dedicated herself to working for improvements in education, the environment and economic development in our community.

Kathryn was a member of the Pasco County School Board, she was elected in 2004, re-elected in 2008, and served as Chairwoman in her third year. She has been appointed to various positions five times by three Republican Governors, Governor Jeb Bush, Governor Charlie Crist, and Governor Rick Scott.

Kathryn Starkey has been actively involved in civic affairs, helping found the Gills Family YMCA in Pasco, co-founding Scenic Pasco, served as President of the West Pasco All-Children's Hospital Guild, and on the Board of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross.
