Pasco County Commission Chairman Ted Schrader, 57, was arrested Feb. 3 on one count of domestic battery.
According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office complaint affidavit, the incident that led to the arrest brewed over the course of the weekend starting with an argument on Friday night. Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, Schrader entered his wife Julia’s bedroom.
When she turned “to her left side” to avoid confrontation, Schrader “grabbed the victim’s left wrist and left leg and pulled her towards him against her will,” the report said.
The Schraders, who have been married for about 30 years, according to the report, have separate bedrooms.
The act, according to an incident report, left three half-inch bruises on Julia Scrader’s left forearm and wrist, but she refused medical treatment.
Prior to arrest, Ted Schrader admitted to grabbing his wife, the report said.
Schrader, a Republican, is serving his fourth term on the Pasco County Commission.
He and his wife reside in San Antonio and have three children.
Schrader was released from the Land O' Lakes jail on $250 bond Monday afternoon, according to jail records.
Domestic battery.... obvious hatred of animals... what's next?
It wasn't too long ago a New Port Richey government figure was involved in a domestic case. When the real story came out I was very sympathetic to the situation.
It just makes me wonder about him since he hates animals and won't do anything to help the situation at Pasco County Animal Services. Doesn't sound like a man I want on MY BOCC.
If nothing else comes out of this, he is now labeled as the sleeze bag he has proven himself to be. People like him prove what they are, day in & day out, by the things that they do & say.
