Speak Out: What Do You Want from City Council?

Weigh in on the priorities you think city leaders should address.

What do you want to see from your New Port Richey City Council?

With the addition of new council members Jeff Starkey and Chopper Davis, the board of elected leaders has a new makeup and fresh faces.

Starkey and Davis have already outlined some of their priorities, such as addressing crime ion the city and identifying the city along U.S. 19.

The council is now comprised of Starkey, Davis, Deputy Mayor Bill Phillips, Mayor Bob Consalvo and councilwoman Judy DeBella Thomas.

Patch wants to know: What would you like to see the City Council do? Tell us in the comments.

Would love for them to attack the problem of all of the prostitutes between the hotel and the gas station right before the bridge on 19. The same ones are out even during the day now, and for people like me who live in the area by Astor, we use these roads all the time. Why not go after the hotel like Walden Pond? They will linger in the road and rush up to any car that drives up to get to 19.

Jobs..make this a number one priority. This city is not going anywhere, because of the long-term unemployment of millions in this country and our little town.

I'd like them to look into abandoned properties that are allowed to deteriorate. I have a few on my block with broken windows, roofs that have been tarped so long that the tarp is rotting off, broken garage doors, and the city says nothing can be done. The only maintenance is the grass is cut every few months. The investment firms that own these homes don't care, meanwhile they're killing everyone else's property value. I hate to think what the insides look like with leaky roofs & kids breaking in to do drugs & such, at this point they probably need to be condemned. I also wish they'd pave a few roads, like Gulf!
