Pasco Encourages eSchool to Keep Student Funding

Pasco county is promoting it's own eSchool instead of Florida Virtual School to keep from losing money.

Pasco county is spending $896,400 to set up a summer program for their eSchool to keep from losing funding, according to an article from Tampabay.com.
The change is coming from a new public education law that takes away money from school districts for every Florida Virtual School class taken. The law is scheduled to go into effect on July 1.
Currently, Pasco eSchool has more than 3,000 summer course enrollments.
Pinellas county schools are not offering any virtual summer courses at the moment.
