The Buccaneers are in a transition stage as they bring in a new head coach, Tom Carter to run the show. Carter replaces Jay Fulmer, who managed to do some pretty good things with the football program. Now, it’s Carter’s turn to make something happen for the Buccaneers, who are coming off an 8-4 season.
The Bucs are taking on the Anclote Sharks on Thursday, May 26th at 7pm for their spring football game.
Returning quarterbacks junior Tyshawn Peters and sophomore Will Fulmer split time last year, so the starting quarterback competition has surely been heated for the majority of the off-season. Look for these two QB's to be showing signs of leadership or displaying some kind of on-field playmaker abilities, as Gulf needs both to be contenders.
As for the other side of the field, look for Phoenix Burr to be stuffing holes at the linebacker position for the Bucs. Last season Burr averaged seven tackles a game, and ended the season with 71 tackles total.
The Anclote Sharks are coming off a 2-9 regular season, but the talent is there, which will make for a great spring game on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Gulf High.
