Authorities have arrested an Elfers woman who was reportedly found wandering State Road 54 Monday morning without footwear, followed by a 4-year-old child, who was also without footwear. According to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the woman was under the influence of synthetic marijuana, or “Spice,” and was unable to take care of herself, let alone a child. The arrest report says drug paraphernalia and prescription medication was found witin a child’s reach at a home. A glass bong with a residue that tested positive for marijuana was found in her home. A 68-year-old Holiday man stands accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old boy. A woman told a Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy she found a video on a computer of the 68-year-old engaging in sexual activity with the boy, according to an arrest report. The man denied the allegation but gave the deputy consent to search his computer for the video. The deputy found a video showing the man with his genitals exposed. it showed the man performing sex acts on the 15-year-old. The encounter reportedly happened on Jan. 12. Dennis Machmer of the 1800 block of Kepner Drive was arrested Monday and charged with lewd or lascivious battery. He remained in the Land O' Lakes jail without bail Tuesday.

Authorities have lifted a lockdown at Seven Springs Middle School and J.W. Mitchell High School that was initiated after a robbery at a nearby shopping plaza. However, Pasco County Sheriff's deputies are still searching for a man they say robbed the Mitchell Plaza Payless Shoes store in Trinity around 10 this morning. According to a media release, the suspect entered the 3034 Little Road store and gave the clerk a note. He fled the store westbound on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The sheriff's office was notified just after 10 a.m. and is now searching for the suspect. The man is said to be armed with a gun. In May 2011, Governor Rick Scott and the Florida cabinet unanimously approved a 50 year lease and dredging of state-owned submerged land to joint applicants Pasco County and Sun West Acquisition Corp. According to WUSF, permits outline the dredging of a recreational boat channel nearly five miles long and five feet deep that will run through 27-acres of delicate sea-grass beds. The new channel would separate a planned 313 acre county park from the proposed private development SunWest Harbourtowne, which plans to build a marina with 500 boat slips, 250 hotel rooms, retail space, and up to 2,500 homes. Another arrest has been made in connection to a July home invasion robbery in Holiday in which the victim was beaten with a crowbar. Dustin Keith Grooms of 12930 Kellywood Circle in Hudson was arrested by Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies on Friday in the Bayonet Point/Port Richey area and charged with home invasion robbery. Another suspect, David Hodierne, was arrested April 26.
