Lady Knights Headed to Regional Finals

The River Ridge softball team knocked Mitchell High out of the post-season.

The River Ridge Lady Knights girls softball team reined in the Mitchell Lady Mustangs' charge toward the regional finals Tuesday. The stands were full as parents watched the Knights beat the Mustangs 5-0 in the 6A semi-regional final at the River Ridge High School campus. “What time is it? Knight Time,” parents chanted when River Ridge ended the game. Now, River Ridge is heading to the 6A regional finals. Last year, the Knights were stopped in the regional finals by Lakewood Ranch. This year could be different. Coach Ernie Beck said the team has strong hitters and pitchers, as well as a roster of experienced players.  “These kids are all coming through,” he said. River Ridge will play at Lakewood Ranch Friday at 7 p.m.

Now she's preparing to hit the pool for another summer season as the aquatics manager of the New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center. "I began coaching competitive swimming in 1973, and in 1983 I started the first competitive swim team in Pasco County, the Pasco Aquatic Club, at the New Port Richey pool,” said Cassidy. “These…
