Traffic Crashes Up Slightly in Pasco

While statewide numbers are down, Pasco County saw a small increase in collisions in 2011, according to a new state report. We want to hear from you in West Pasco on what roads worry you the most.

The number of traffic crashes in Pasco County rose from 5,576 in 2010 to 5,610 in 2011. A total of three teen drivers or their passengers, ages 15 to 19, were killed in motor vehicle accidents in Pasco County in 2011. Three bicyclists were killed while trying to navigate Pasco roadways. These are just a few of the numbers released in the state Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles 2011 Florida Crash Statistics Report. The report was just released by the state and includes a variety of information related to roadway safety throughout the state and in Pasco County. While Hillsborough did see a rise in its crash numbers, the state witnessed a drop in fatalities, the report says. In fact, the drop between 2010 and 2011 in fatalities …

Young Men at Highest Risk for Speed-Related Crashes

Statistically, young men are more likely than any other group to be involved in a speed-related crashes.

Early Tuesday morning, a car was speeding down Ulmerton Road in Largo when its driver tried to change lanes and pass a dump truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The car didn't make it, instead crashing into the back of the truck near 66th Street North. Both of the car's occupants, men in their 20s, were taken to the hospital. The driver, Cameron Richard Bosley, 24  , was in fair condition at Bayfront Medical Center on Tuesday evening. His passenger, Michael Edward Graziano, 23, was in critical condition, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Both men live in Dunedin. Science has discovered that the human brain does not develop maturity until age 25. Until then our young people will be fearless daredevils who will make wonderful military pilots, marines, Navy seals, submariners etc...
