Varsity Football Preview: Freddie Jones

Mitchell Mustangs senior Freddie Jones is on his way to developing into the overall leader that head coach Scott Schmitz is expecting in the fall season.

The speed and agility of Mitchell High School senior Freddie Jones creates a lot of opportunity for the Mustangs football team in the upcoming fall season. “He (Jones) could be a real big part of what we do,” said Mustangs coach Scott Schmitz. Last season, Jones played a pretty effective role in the Mustangs strategy and was the top-scoring junior for the team. Jones was tied for third in scoring overall with five touchdowns, four on the ground and one receiving. He combined for over 200 yards. Last year, Jones played mostly at the fullback position, but, this season, Schmitz plans to use him as the Mustangs halfback. "He's more dangerous out in space.
