Varsity Football Preview: Freddie Jones

Mitchell Mustangs senior Freddie Jones is on his way to developing into the overall leader that head coach Scott Schmitz is expecting in the fall season.

The speed and agility of Mitchell High School senior Freddie Jones creates a lot of opportunity for the Mustangs football team in the upcoming fall season. “He (Jones) could be a real big part of what we do,” said Mustangs coach Scott Schmitz. Last season, Jones played a pretty effective role in the Mustangs strategy and was the top-scoring junior for the team. Jones was tied for third in scoring overall with five touchdowns, four on the ground and one receiving. He combined for over 200 yards. Last year, Jones played mostly at the fullback position, but, this season, Schmitz plans to use him as the Mustangs halfback. "He's more dangerous out in space. Varsity Football Preview: Ty'Shon Peters

The Gulf Buccaneers varsity football team has athletes, and here's a look at one of them, senior Ty'Shon Peters.

Ty’Shon Peters is going to be a huge asset to the Gulf High School Buccaneers' offense and defense when football season begins. Peters can play quarterback, wideout, cornerback, safety, linebacker and defensive end. He’s ranked 98th out of 160 top seniors in the state of Florida on flavarsity.com as a cornerback. Buccaneers coach Tom Carter says, “Wherever we put him is going to benefit the team.” Peters missed half the Buccaneers games last season as he found himself embroiled in the middle of a recruiting controversy. With an opportunity to play a full season directly ahead for him, Peters looks to make up for the missed games and make a big name for himself. Last season, Peters had four touchdowns, six interceptions, and 343 passing …
