Girl with Cerebral Palsy Reaches Huge Milestone

Residents throughout Pasco and Pinellas counties have rallied to help Kiley Griggs get therapy to help her walk. Recently, she rode a horse alone for a few seconds.

Kiley Griggs, a 3-year-old with cerebral palsy, is learning to ride a horse. Kiley, who is on the verge of turning 4 this month, lives in the New Port Richey area with her mother, Lori, who teaches at Rushe Midde School, and father Jason “Jay” Griggs, a Dunedin firefighter. She is enrolled in equine therapy at Kiddy Up! Farms. Kiddy Up is a New Port Richey area business that provides equine therapy to children with disabilities. On Wednesday, Kiley’s mother let folks on the Kiley's Progress Facebook page know about a big step Kiley has taken in therapy. Here's what she had to say: HUGE milestone! Kiddy Up Teaches Clients with Disabilities to Ride Horses

Tammy Farris runs the new equine therapy service.

Tammy Farris spends hours in the company of horses and youths with disabilities. This is Farris’ job and business. She’s owner of Kiddy Up Farms, a new equine therapy service on Osceola Drive near New Port Richey. In the neighborhood northeast of Ridge Road, Farris guides clients as they learn to ride horses. Farris’ equine therapy offers classes geared toward youths with physical and mental disabilities. Farris officially started offering classes in January. Horses were part of her childhood, but equine therapy only recently became her business. Farris is the wife of the pastor who launched Next Level Church in Tarpon Springs. Our daughter also is a part of kiddy up. She enjoys it so much!!! my daughter has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair. she has learned to sit up and also hold her head up and also now is saying things like "Walk on", "having fun", to her horse. she even told Ms.Tammy "I love you" one day.
