Meet the contestants in this year's Pasco County Battle of the Bands.
The clock is winding down as eight bands prepare to battle it out at Rockus Maximus XV tonight. The Pasco County Library System's 15th annual battle of the bands, featuring young musicians from the Bay area and elsewhere, will kick off at 6 p.m. Up for grabs: $1,000 cash and 10 hours of recording time at Morrisound Recording in Tampa. One band will leave Rockus Maximus XV with the grand prize of 10 free hours of recording time at Morrisound Studio in Tampa and $1,000. Rockus Maximus XV is the Pasco County Library System's Battle of the Bands, and it features young musicians from the Tampa Bay area and elsewhere. There is also an online voting competition going on right now. The band that receives the most votes in the online competition will bring home a $500 gift card from Encore Music. Rockus Maximus preview gives sample of good jives .
If you went to juvenile section the South Holiday Library Saturday, you would have been audience to live performances of rock, metal and hip-hop. Four bands and one solo act were rocking at a preview performance for Rockus Maximus XV, the Pasco County Library System's Battle of the Bands. In addition, band members competed at the preview in a game of "Library Warrior," in which they were challenged to speed paint while dancing, drink coffee that they were told was brewed from meal worms (although it wasn't really) and other physical and mental challenges. Voting is now open for the online portion of Rockus Maximus XV.
Eight local bands are relying on West Pasco music lovers to help catapult them to victory in the online portion of Rockus Maximus XV: Battle of the Bands. The annual battle is staged by the Pasco County Library System as a way to provide area bands with teenage members some exposure, performance experience and a chance to win prizes. The battle includes two portions: a live concert set for March 23 and an online contest that relies on viewer votes to determine a winner. The band that wins during the live concert will get 10 hours of recording time at Morrisound Recording in Tampa. The winner of the online portion will bring home a $500 gift card from Encore Music.
