It’s almost time to go wild in West Pasco. Pasco EcoFest is three-day festival that puts a spotlight on West Pasco parks and what you can do in and around them. And it starts Friday, Nov. 9. and continues through Sunday, Nov. 11. The festival features more than 50 activities spread out across West Pasco parks and sites in New Port Richey. Almost all activities are free. The slate of activities includes kayaking, hiking, riverboat rides, drum circles, dancing on the beach, the first-ever food truck rally in New Port Richey, an eco market, educational workshops and talks, a pet adoption fair and geo-caching challenges. Pasco EcoFest is being steered this year by Kira and Kacey Atkinson, two longtime residents of New Port Richey. The twin sisters, who turned 28 in October, are event managers for the three-day festival that puts a spotlight on West Pasco parks and the surrounding community. The two are both passionate supporters of the environmental sustainability movement and are active in a couple of New Port Richey resident advisory committees, This is the biggest event they’ve yet helmeded. They are responsible for making sure the festival goes smoothly. They coordinate with volunteers leading the individual activities, make contacts with businesses that want to be involved, check on city and county government requirements and map out what activities …

Ed Lawlor has started Peace-Love-Paddle, a kayak and canoe paddling instruction business.
Ed Lawlor is an instructor, and his classroom is on the water. Lawlor is owner of Peace-Love-Paddle, a new local business that specializes in canoe and kayak paddling instruction and training. He coaches clients himself and also employs contract instructors. Peace-Love-Paddle aims to teach clients to paddle efficiently and safely, Lawlor said. Lawlor, 52, grew up on the water and currently lives along the Pithlachascotee River in New Port Richey. He’s lived in Pasco County since the 1970s and has worked as a lineman for Progress Energy since 1980. He also worked as a nature photographer and would paddle out to get shots of nature. Pasco EcoFest is returning this year to bring people out to West Pasco parks and other natural attractions. EcoFest is a multi-day festival that puts a spotlight on West Pasco County‘s natural spaces and what you can do in and around them. This will be the second EcoFest. The inaugural festival was held last year. This year’s festival is Nov. 9, 10 and 11 and seeks to draw folks to coastal parks and also inland attractions that are in New Port Richey and the surrounding area. This year’s festival is still taking shape, but among the fun things to be featured are kayaking, bird watching, hiking, and riverboat rides, fishing, horseback riding, drum circles, hooping and dancing on the beach, a food truck rally, eco market, educational …

Sisters Kacey and Kira Atkinson have taken on a big responsibility. The two are overseeing the second-ever Pasco EcoFest, a multi-day festival Nov. 9-11 that puts the spotlight on natural spaces in West Pasco and activities to do in and around them. Kacey and Kira are the managers of the festival this year. The Atkinson sisters are twins who turn 28 in October. Pasco EcoFest is the biggest event they have ever helmed.
