Pasco Firefighter Faces 2nd DUI Charge

Victor J. Scheeren was arrested at about 3 a.m. Friday morning.

A Pasco County Firefighter/EMT faces his second DUI charge after deputies say he was speeding in New Port Richey early Friday morning. According to the Pasco Sheriff's Office, a deputy observed Victor J. Scheeren's BMW was going 61 in a 45 mph zone and drifting side to side on U.S. 19 at about 3 a.m. on Feb. 1. When the deputy made contact with Scheeren, 51, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, according to an arrest report. Scheeren first denied having anything to drink, then said he had one beer. I will also add that I challenge you to find ANYTHING on this guy for the first DUI he got. There isn't a mugshot available on that one either. Somebody please explain how that is possible.   more ›

Barricaded Man Removed from Burning Home

Rescuers are fighting the fire on Chipmunk Drive in New Port Richey.

Rescuers are fighting a fire inside a New Port Richey home after a barricaded man was removed from the premises, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.  Deputies responded to a call this afternoon of a man barricaded inside the home in the 4300 block of Chipmunk Drive, near Old County Road 54 and Sawgrass Boulevard in Seven Springs, according to a news release. Smoke was coming from the home, but investigators do not yet know how the fire started. Stay with New Port Richey Patch for developments on this story.
