Audiences showed Pharmboy, a movie shot in Pasco County, some love last weekend. The movie was named winner of the Audience Award in the Narrative Feature category at the Gasparilla International Film Festival, which took place March 19 -24 in Tampa. The film tells a fictional tale about the very real problem of prescription pill addiction. It tells the story of Gunner Barrett, a teenager who was born addicted to prescription pills. Lawrence Feeney, president of Pasco Films, is an independent filmmaker, and he wrote, cast, produced and directed the film himself and also got some producers, including Marc Dahl of Five Studios, to help. Trinity resident Lawrence Feeney recently gave us some more good news about his movie Pharmboy. The film, which was shot in Pasco County, is going to be one of eight movies in the Gasparilla International Film Festival’s Narrative Feature Competition. We learned a while ago that the film got into the festival, but it was just announced recently which festival competition it would participate in. The Gasparilla International Film Festival runs March 19-24. Pharmboy will have its festival premiere at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, in Tampa and will run again at 2 p.m. on Sunday March 24. Trinity resident Lawrence Feeney shared some good news Tuesday. Pharmboy, a film shot in Pasco County, was selected for inclusion in the Gasparilla International Film Festival in Tampa, Feeney announced. The festival is this coming March 19-24. “Screening dates/times and ticket information have yet to be determined, but I wanted you to know that our little film, shot entirely in Pasco County, has made it into it's first festival!” Feeney announced to folks in an e-mail. Lawrence Feeney is looking for folks interested in picking up his film Pharmboy, an he's released a trailer.
Trinity resident Lawrence Feeney filmed a movie called Pharmboy in Pasco County last year and showed it to the public. Now, he has released a trailer of the film, which tells the tale of a boy born addicted to prescription. We want to see what you think of it. He posted to Vimeo and you can find it on its Vimeo page. Feeney, president of Pasco Films, is an independent filmmaker, and he wrote, cast, produced and directed the film himself and also got some producers to help fund it. He also received a county grant. Local independent filmmaker gets recognition from Florida Governor's Office of Film & Entertainment.
This is pretty cool. The Florida Governor's Office of Film & Entertainment highlighted on its Facebook page an article about Pharmboy, a film helmed by local independent filmmaker Lawrence Feeney. The post links to the Tampa Bay Times article about Feeney's film and says it is "An inspiring article about how one Floridian is getting the Sunshine State, more specifically his hometown, on the big screen." Feeney shot Pharmboy, a tale of a teenager born addicted to prescription pills, at locations throughout Pasco. He premiered the movie on Monday, Dec. 3.
