Rescue Workers Had ‘No Chance’ to Save Children

Twin 3-year-olds perished in an early morning Nov. 12 blaze in Moon Lake.

A Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy was one of the first on the scene at a fatal fire in Moon Lake this morning. When he arrived, a woman was standing outside the fully engulfed home at 10637 Wabayo St. saying there were babies inside. She was “hysterical,” said Sheriff Chris Nocco. The deputy, however, had “no chance at all to go in there,” Nocco said. Pasco County Fire Rescue Chief Robert Davidson agreed. “Our crews did attempt to (perform) a rescue,” he said, adding that the blaze was too involved to enable entry into the mobile home. Two 3-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, neighbors say, died in the fire, Nocco confirmed. “It’s an absolute tragedy,” he said. “You can never say the right words.” Receive updates to this story and other …

1 Dead in Moon Lake Fire

UPDATE, 11:55 a.m.: Twin three-year-olds have been confirmed dead as a result of the fire. Read the updated story here. A mobile home fire in the Moon Lake area has claimed the life of at least one person. According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the fire broke out at 10637 Wabayo St. in Moon Lake sometime this morning, Nov. 12. Fire Rescue was able to put the fire out and has confirmed one fatality. No other details are available at this time. Stay with Patch for updates as they become available.
