Comint is indeed a type of Sigint, and I meant to say Elint (also a type of Sigint). And yes, there are multiple types of intel, but my point was that there are often conflicts in information that is coming in in real time and I was giving examples. In the Benghazi situation, I'd professionally wager that the best source will be Humint, supplemented by Comint. And, as multiple echelons were …   more ›

Vote or 'Keep Your Mouth Shut,' Man Says

Residents weigh in on the election.

New Port Richey resident Robert Ayers was up bright and early on Election Day. “I’m 81 years old, and I’ve voted ever since I’ve been able to,” said Ayers, who wore a shirt with the “Freedom isn’t Free” slogan on it under a jacket. Young and old voters alike in ventured out into the rain in New Port Richey to cast ballots in the general election Tuesday. Ayers cast his ballot shortly after polls opened at 7 a.m. at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center, but he wasn't the first to cast a ballot at that location. He declined to say whom he voted for, but he weighed in on why it was important to vote: “If you don’t vote, keep your mouth shut about something you don’t like,” he said. Janice Leidolf stopped into the New Port Richey …

Cloudy Skies Greet Voters

Election Day started out overcast, but it should clear up.

The skies were overcast as the sun rose on Election Day and rain fell on New Port Richey, but voters still came out to the polls. Voters trickled into the precinct polls at the precinct 25 polls at the New Port Richey Recreation Center and the precinct 60 polls at the Finnish-American Club on Madison Street in New Port Richey. Lines were relatively short, although the parking lot at the Finnish-American Club was filling up fast and people were parking at curbs. Voters shouldn’t ditch their raincoats or umbrellas just yet. It’s possible showers will continue through 10 a.m., and there’s also a possibility of a thunderstorm during that time period, according to the National Weather Service. A chance of rain continues through, 1 p.m., …

Keeping the Faith

How presidential candidates deal with questions about their religious beliefs

By New Port Richey resident Joseph Margetanski We're all familiar with this scenario: rumors and speculation abound about the presidential candidate not really being a Christian as he claims, but rather belongs to what some perceive as a dangerous cult that has designs to undermine American sovereignty. But if you think such speculation and fear is something unique to our current president, or this election, think again. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney aren't the first presidential aspirants to face rumors and doubts about their faith. We’ve had two other presidential candidates in our history that faced persistent concerns about their religion. In one case, those fears derailed the dreams of one Oval Office seeker. In the other case, the …

Early Voting in Pasco Ends Today

Voters have until 7 p.m. Saturday to cast ballots ahead of the Nov. 6 general election.

Voters who turned up at the polls this week said the short wait for early voting beat the wait they anticipated for Tuesday's general election. And today is the last day to take advantage. Voters have until 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, to cast their ballots early and avoid election day lines. As of 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 2,  a total of 45,207 people had turned out in Pasco to vote since early voting started on Oct. 27. Another 51,405 people cast absentee ballots, according to the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections office. The county has established seven locations for voters to use during this period. Registered voters in Pasco County can report to any of the seven locations to cast their ballot between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Voters in …

Sheriff Candidate Expresses Concern About Deputy Discipline

Kim Bogart says he would hold agency to higher standard.

Kim Bogart, Democratic candidate for Pasco County Sheriff, has been digging into agency reports for information on the conduct of its employees. On Wednesday, he expressed concern about what he found. In a press conference, Bogart, who is running against incumbent Sheriff Chris Nocco for the job of top cop, outlined four cases.  In January, deputies went to the home of Tommy Garcia to make contact regarding an accusation that he had committed rape weeks earlier. He was not home, and they left. It’s unclear whether return visits were made. Another rape occurred weeks later. A different deputy arrested Garcia, who was charged with four counts of sexual battery, in February.  “There is no excuse for delaying an arrest,” Bogart said. In …

Poll: Do You Read Campaign Mail?

In light of the upcoming election we want to know what voters do when they receive campaign literature in the mail. Do you read it or toss it?

With the Nov. 6 election coming up in less than a week, it appears as though politicial flyers are being mailed to homes in a rush to influence voters. The accompanying photo shows five campaign cards that arrived in the mailbox of one local home in just one day! In light of the upcoming election we want to know what voters do when they receive campaign literature in the mail. Do you read it or toss it? We're inviting you to participate in our poll below. If you answer that you "sometimes" read campaign literature, let us know in the comments section what makes you decide to read literature from one campaign and not another!

The money spent on this mail is a crime . The millions spent on tv is also a crime . Iam sure they spent well over a billion dollars already. All that spent for a few sound bites that no one believes.   more ›
