Pedestrian Dies Following Crash in Holiday

An 89-year-old Holiday man died Feb. 23 after being struck by a car on Perrine Ranch Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left one man dead Feb. 23. Enrique Rodriguez Ortiz, 89, of Holiday was attempting to walk northbound across Perrine Ranch Road, just east of Olde Farm Road, around 6:50 p.m. last night, Feb. 23, when the accident occurred, a highway patrol media release said. Ortiz, the release said, crossed into the path of a 2002 Saturn driven by Gladys Devos, 89, also of Holiday, and was struck by the car. Ortiz died at the scene, the release said. Devos was uninjured. Pedestrian Dies Following Hit-and-Run

Police are searching for the driver of the vehicle involved in the overnight crash.

A 31-year-old Holiday man died following a hit-and-run crash last night on U.S. 19 at Beacon Square Drive. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Joseph J. Vandoren was trying to walk from the east side of U.S. 19 to the west side around 9 p.m. April 10 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle was traveling south on U.S. 19 near the intersection with Beacon Square. Vandoren was taken to the Medical Center of Trinity where he later died, a highway patrol media release said. Troopers are asking residents for help in locating the driver of the vehicle. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Cpl. Jim Covert at 813-631-4020.
