Victim in Truck-Pedestrian Crash Identified

A pedestrian from New Port Richey was killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has identified a pedestrian who died in a traffic accident Monday afternoon on Seven Springs Blvd. in New Port Richey. FHP says Dewey Edward Yeary, 69, of New Port Richey, was walking on the sidewalk along Seven Springs Blvd. when he appeared to lose his balance and fall into the northbound outside lane of Seven Springs Blvd. Donald Buck, 43, of Tarpon Springs, was traveling northbound in the outside line in his 2011 Ford F-450 pickup when he attempted to swerve to avoid Yeary, but was unsuccessful, striking Yeary.  Per FHP, Yeary died at the scene, just north of Daggett Terrace. The incident remains under investigation with the FHP and details are subject to change.
