On the article No More Red Light Cameras? Here's What New Port Richey is Saying

ReplyI think they are there for revenue and saying it is for safety is a convenient way to sell them to the sheeple at large. Do they reduce the instances of violators, yes I think they do. They also increase the number of rear-end collisions but they don't like to talk about that little bit of information - got to protect the revenue stream.

ReplyYet, just last month there was a survey from Saint Petersburg showing the EXACT opposite. http://www.tampabay.com/news/localgovernment/st-petersburg-city-council-to-decide-future-of-red-light-cameras/1266845
But this study is cherry picking data. 56 percent of the communities studied? What about the other 44 percent? What is the TOTAL 100% number, I bet they would not look so rosy if they would just give us the facts, you know all of them.
I guess as with anything, proponents will pick and choose the facts that support their case, and opponents will do the same to support their case. How about the news media just give us poor old mushrooms out here all the facts and let us decide for ourselves what it is.

ReplyI would have no problem with dollar coins, I already throw my singles into a drawer now to save, would make no difference to me if they were in bill form or coin form. That being said, if they are going to do a coin they need to get away from a solid round one. Put a hole in the middle of it, change the shape a little (octagon or something).

On the article Healthcare Dispute Leaves Many Without Hospital Coverage

ReplyI have received enough letters that a tree had to be cut down to send them all from both United Healthcare and BayCare. Virtually all of my medical care from my primary care physician to most of the specialists, is all through BayCare. For the longest time all the media just said Medicare, Medicare, Medicare. Then 3 weeks ago we find out that no, it is virtually all of the UHC policies.
I have a relationship with my doctors, I don't have a relationship with United Healthcare. As a result I am changing my insurance from UHC. Until the time of the switch (January 1st) I will pay out of network costs (100% until the out of network deductible is met, which won't (or shouldn't) happen before the end of the year.)
UHC has been difficult to work with, and their prescription coverage has been worse than horrible, so this is just the push I needed to change - sadly I have 5 weeks that I am stuck with what is left.

From an Electoral College perspective he won big. That is because the ground game focused on large swing state prizes and was successful. In a race with over 124 million ballots cast, I don't consider a victory of 3 million or so a landslide, and certainly not a mandate. I have not seen a "mandate" since President Regan beat President Carter. I am sure there are more than that but this is the first election I actually remember, and I would have been the ripe old age of 11 at that time. :)

Hi Samuel: When I used the term "move on" it was intended to say, stop living in the defeat of the 2012 election, or stop gloating about the victory if you are on the democrat side. We have bigger issues to worry about now, the election is over and no amount of being pissed about it or sulking about it or on the other hand rubbing it in peoples faces is going to change those results. It means look toward the 2016 election and finding a candidate that is charismatic and energetic who has a chance to take the White House then. Several candidates come to mind for me, Jeb Bush, or Chris Christy. On the Democrat side, someone like a Corey Booker would be a formidable opponent.
It was me simply saying America needs to stop living in the past, we have bigger fish to fry right now.

I love my guns. I am a strong advocate of the 2nd amendment. I fail however to see how having universal background checks would in any way hinder the 2nd amendment. I will say I don't agree with a ban or limit on assault rifles or extended round clips. It will not slow someone down in the least to limit round capacity to 10 rounds versus 30 or even 100, so you carry extra per-loaded clips, it is meaningless reform. For the assault rifle ban, more meaningless reform, you can still buy an AR-15 just don't have a flash suppressor, a bayonet holder, or a collapsible stock and you just bypassed the ban. Again it is nothing but window dressing. The lion share of weapons owners, be it assault rifles, or hand guns are responsible owners. As with anything, a few bad apples make everyone look bad and to vilify the weapon for the action of crazy people is sort of like saying that too many people die from car accidents, so we need to ban cars. Or over eating causes diabetes so lets ban forks. IMHO.
