Bank Robber Robs Same Bank Twice, Deputies Say

Michael Shearer hit the same bank twice, deputies say.

What do you do after you rob a bank?

If you’re Michael Shearer, you wait awhile and then go bank and rob it again. 

On March 5, Shearer is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo bank at 10934 U.S. 19 in Port Richey, according to an arrest report from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested the same day.

While out of jail on bond, he walked into the same bank on Aug. 12 with his face and right hand wrapped in surgical tape, wearing a neck brace, khaki pants, gray shirt and baseball cap, according to an arrest report. 

He told a teller “I’ll kill you,” but that nothing would happen if she gave him money. He was given $2,120.

He fled. 

The teller recognized him as the man from the March robbery.

A witness later said to deputies that Shearer, 39, told him that he was going to rob the bank. That person told deputies he didn’t believe the story, but that he was present when Shearer stole the clothing he wore during the August robbery from a local thrift store. The man also watched Shearer wrap himself in tape. . He said he went with Shearer to a thrift store that Shearer stole the pants and shirt from and watched Shearer wrap himself in tape. 

The witness told deputies Shearer went into the bank and came out with a wad of cash clutched to his chest.  Shearer gave the person some of the money.

Shearer, of 7674 Montegue Loop, Elfers, was arrested Aug. 13 and charged with armed robbery.
